Show #99 - The National Anthem
Shownotes:
- Apparently, I am pretty good at recommending quality shows for people to check out.
- Deniz thinks so, at least
- Here are the shows that I mentioned on this episode:
- Shane and Tom are really nice guys who I met at PAB. Their show is one of my new favorites. Funny, funny, funny.
- The Mewsikcast is a music show hosted by an eleven-year old cool kid named Max.
- Collectik has just rolled out their Mixmaker feature. It’s pretty awesome and you should check it out.
- Oh yeah, Hugh from Collectik is really nice. I met him at PAB, too.
- Jim Dupree: Enthusiast is my new favorite video podcast. Hysterically funny and worthy of 10 minutes of your time. Awesome. Tristan and Dan are really cool and know a lot about old videogames (per our conversation at PAB).
- Carl Lewis can’t sing.
- Neither can this guy.

Hey Matt thanks for the kind word about Max’s show. He will be working on a new one tonight. I swear that no one should be allowed to sing the star spangled banner in public until they they have auditioned and demonstrated that they can actually carry a tune and know all the lyrics. I vaguely recall hearing the Carl Lewis clip many years ago and although he he acknowledged that it was bad as he went along, I still think Rosanne Barr may have the worst public rendition ever. I’ll definitely be checking out Jim Dupree and Shane and Tom later. I’ve listened to Deniz before and although I like him I can only take so much of his “musical” selections. Maybe I’ll try again.

Hey Sam & Tim–
The video of the cop is really priceless. You should check out my link to it.
Deniz definitely has a unique musical palette. He’s a great guy, though. I appreciate that you are going to check out those other shows. They are really worthwile and awesome. I sort of feel like I didn’t do a good job of explaining them, so I am glad to hear that I was somewhat successful.

[...] The latest episode of Digital Detroit Radio has a very strong endorsement of the podcast. And what’s more, Matt can totally hold his own in a conversation about Dig Dug, Frostbite, and Pressure Cooker. [...]

hey matt, thanks for the tip (again) about collectik … tho I’m a bit worried about being “really nice” all the time. Isn’t that sort of like saying, “you should really meet hugh, he’s got a great personality!” = bow wow.
PS I’m loving the deuce. man the deuce is good.
later!

Hugh–
The fact that you are devastatingly handsome cannot be questioned. You just also happen to have a nice demeanor.

Oh man, I feel famous again. I live between DDR mentions.
Sam, what’s with the “musical” in quotes? It’s totally fine to dislike the shit that I play, but to imply that it isn’t music just because (I’m assuming this is your issue) there’s a bit of screaming is just plain ignorant. Not to mention closedminded, douchebaggy, and most of all stupid.
Cheers!
