DDR - “Best Mobile Podcast?” Hmmmm.
So, I guess I have been nominated as “Best Mobile Podcast” in the Podcast Awards contest. Weird, eh? I would have maybe preferred “Best Smile” or “Best Hair,” but I suppose that this will do. Thanks to everyone who voted to nominate me as one of the top 5. If you get a chance, please go and vote for DDR as the ultimate winner of all the “Mobile” podcasts out there (vote for Jasper, and Illinoise!, and Industrial Radio, and Most People are DJ’s, too). Maybe I can drive the CJOTF out to California to accept the award if I win. Probably not.

The difference is that not only is Julien is a good friend of mine, but a personality in podcasting. People can see what he wrote and understand that he is joking. To leave a random comment from someone with no pre-existing context that says, “I’m voting for MoTR, you f**kers” can only be taken as serious. Yes, there is a double standard there. Just because the other kids are doing it doesn’t mean that you can, too. I know the other kids. I had never heard from you before your comment so I don’t have a frame of reference. How can you even think for a second that it would be taken any other way than seriously? That’s just silly.

You support a podcast by saying “Let’s Do this!!” That can be construed as a rallying cry.
Going to a rival podcast’s site and insulting the listeners in a way that even the podcast you’re supporting doesnt’ condone isn’t the right way to go about it.
Matt does a good show and since the hosts of the show you support have been class acts by distancing themselves from your actions, I think I’ll check them out now. This is something that probably wouldn’t have happened if they had acted the same way as you.
See the difference between support and coming off as an agitator.
